Bookmark Contest Winners and Finalists

Congratulations to the winners of the Litchfield Library Foundation’s second annual bookmark contest!

There were 195 entries from local 5th through 12th graders. The foundation board voted to narrow to the semifinalists and finalists, then the public voted on the 10 finalists to choose the 3 winners. The top 3 win cash prizes, and the 1st place design will go on this year’s library bookmark, which will be handed out at the Watercade parade and the library.

The winners’, finalists’, and semifinalists’ bookmarks are on display in the cabinet next to the front desk of the library. Stop by to take a look!

Summer Reading Program Incentives

Level Up at Your Library, this year’s summer reading program, has started at Litchfield Library! Kids can pick out a free book to keep when they sign up, thanks to help from the Friends of the Litchfield Library. When kids complete reading sheets, they get library loot that they can use to “buy” prizes!

Crafter Guild

Litchfield Library’s Crafter Dark program has a new name: Crafter Guild! Drop in once a month with your own project and enjoy social crafting time with fellow crafters. The program will meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

For adults and teens age 16 and up; ages 13 to 15 can attend with a parent or other adult. No need to sign up. No formal instruction will be provided.

Knitting Club

Join other fiber crafters this summer at Litchfield Library’s Knitting Club! Held one Thursday per month, 1:30-2:30 p.m., in the library’s meeting room. No formal instruction will be provided, but an expert knitter from the library staff will be available for questions and ideas. Open to all ages. No need to sign up.

Teen D&D

Teen Dungeons & Dragons will continue on the 1st Tuesday of the month this summer, 4-6 pm:

  • June 3
  • July 1
  • August 5

For ages 11-18. No need to sign up. Free to attend.

Game Nights at the Library

This summer the library will be hosting a board game night on the third Tuesday of each month: June 17th, July 15th, and August 19th, 2025, 6:30-7:30 p.m.  The library has a variety of games available. All ages are invited to come and play.

As with all of our programming, children under 8 need to be accompanied by an adult or teen caregiver.

LEGO Nights at the Library

LEGO nights at the Library provides and opportunity children 4-14 years, along with their families, to gather and get creative. Children are invited to build with our bricks, creating whatever they desire or can imagine. We gather in the library meeting room every second Tuesday from 6:30-7:30 pm. As with all library programs, children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult of teen caregiver.

Baby/Toddler Summer Storytime Schedule

Our baby/toddler summer storytime season will be beginning on Wednesday, June 11th. The CLIMB theatre will be here with “Babe the Blue Ox: Color Our World.” This mini play supports early literacy skills.

Baby toddler storytimes are on Wednesday mornings at 10:15-10:45 am and run June 11th – August 6th, 2025. We gather in the children’s area of the library. Children and caregivers will enjoy music, movement, and stories. Caregivers must stay with thier children. Although the storytimes are geared for babies and toddlers, older siblings are always welcome.

Summer Storytimes

Our Summer Storytime season is about to kick off!. Friday storytimes begin June 6th at 10:00 with the Science Heroes “Adventure of the Missing Color” program and continue through August 8th, 2025.

Friday storytimes are for all ages. Children under age 8 need to be accompanied by an adult or teen caregiver. Caregivers are always encouraged to stay and participate as it is beneficial for both the children and their caregivers.

Friday storytimes are held on the south lawn of the library, weather permitting. Bring a blanket or chairs to sit on. During  inclement  weather, storytimes will be held in the children’s department of the library.
