Homeschool Connection is a new art-based program offered by the Litchfield Library. A short presentation on an artist will be given, and then an art project that ties in with the artist will be offered for participants. This is not designed to be a technical art class, but rather an exploration of different methods. Its up to the “artist” to make of it what they will, bringing their own talents and desire to create. This allows for those of all abilities, and a range of ages, to participate. The projects are designed for those ages 5 and up, but younger siblings are welcome to participate. Parents or caregivers are expected to be present, participating, and helping when necessary. 

The library will provide supplies and space. There is no need to sign up. It is free to attend. Participants should come dressed in paint-friendly clothes. If the weather permits, we may gather on the south lawn of the library; otherwise we will gather in the library’s meeting room.

This program is focused on providing a way for homeschoolers to gather, meet, and create connection.

Calling all LEGO lovers! LEGO Night is a fun opportunity for creative kids who love LEGOs to build to their hearts content, or until the clock strikes 7:30 pm. On the second Tuesday of each month, from 6:30-7:30 pm, kids 14 and under are invited to gather in the meeting room along with their families and friends. This is an informal program in which the library provides the LEGOs and space to gather and build. Participants decide what and how to build. Creations are given a title, and they’re often displayed in the library’s display case. As always, children 8 and under need to be accompanied by an adult/teen caregiver.

Our fall storytime season is starting soon. We have storytimes designed for babies/toddlers on Wednesday mornings from 10:15-10:45 am. These storytimes include lots of action rhymes, songs, and a couple of stories for babies and toddlers to enjoy with their caregiver.  Baby/toddler storytimes are a wonderful opportunity for parents/caregivers to connect with their child(ren), and to connect with other families. Though these are designed for the youngest learners, older siblings are always welcome.

Storytimes for kids are held on Friday mornings, from 10:15-11:15 am. These storytimes are geared for children of all ages and include songs, rhymes, books, and a craft. Parents are encouraged to participate as it is beneficial for both the child(ren) and themselves. Children under 8 years of age must be accompanied by an adult or teen caregiver.

*On September 26th residents of Meeker Manor will be joining us for an intergenerational storytime. *Savannah Stephenson, Minnesota DNR naturalist will be presenting a special storytime on November 21st.

* There will be no storytime  on  October  17th or Nov 28th

Players of all ages are invited to our monthly board game night! On the third Tuesday of each month, from 6:30-7:30 pm we gather in the library’s meeting room and play a variety of board games. The library provides the board games, but you are welcome to bring a favorite from home to share as well. It’s always a good time, with plenty of laughter and  friendly competition. Children under 8 years of age need to be accompanied by an adult or teen caregiver.

An adventure for teens, led by a teen, awaits teens ages 11 to 18. Teen Dungeons and Dragons meets on the first Tuesday of each month in the library meeting room from 4:00-6:00 pm. If you are interested in playing, you can bring your character sheet, or create one when you come. The library provides dice, but you are welcome to bring your own dice and miniature if desired.
